MY FIRST STAND-UP SET IN 28 YEARS. (Or, How I came very close to shitting my pants at the Comedy Store Monday night.)

I have to admit, I was nervous as hell. So nervous about it. My friend Felicia Michaels asked me to be on her great Belly Room show, ‘AGE AGAINST THE MACHINE’ and I said yes then quickly regretted it but then got passed it and just did it. I’m glad I did too. I was onstage somewhere every night sometimes three times a night from the time I was seventeen until I was in my early 30’s then just stopped because of my workload making films and my family life. Just stopped Cold Turkey. If you are a stand-up or know anyone or a performer, you know how hard it is. Then, as the time progresses, you think, ‘it’s too late to go back’, and maybe it is, but I did enjoy this set. Maybe perversely. I even enjoyed the parts where I messed up.
