Bill Burr @the Nashville Comedy Festival

Bill Burr was one of the headliners this week at an epic weeklong Nashville Comedy Festival. From Kid Rock’s comedy Jam to Bert Kreischer’s sold out shows at the Grand Ole Opry and the Ryman, Taylor Tomlinson’s amazing set at the Ryman, (which truly was a treat to watch. Go see her live. She’s a phenom.)  Nate Bargatze dropped in all over the place as well as directed his buddy Mike Vecchione’s special at Zanies and did a live Nateland podcast there with his co-hosts, Aaron Weber and Brian Bates. Shane Gillis, Dan Soder, and Theo Vonn popped up often too. Joe Gato and Steve Byrne did a night at Zanies that was insanely funny and was capped off with Bert K jumping up. Joshua Black did a great show, Josh Wolf was incredible in his indelible way, and KFC Radio lit up Zanies for a live podcast as well. (Right after these two guys told me they weren’t stand-ups. Ha.)

It really came down perfectly. A sterling post war-(covid) festival, and a group of strong shows and comedians. Congrats to Nashville. Congrats to Outback. KID ROCK'S COMEDY JAM

SEBASTION IS SHELLING OUT NFT’S TO EACH AND EVERY ONE OF HIS FANS (HIS FANS ARE ASKING “WHAT THE F*@K IS THIS?”)

Sebastion Maniscalco is giving out NFT’s to each and every single one of his fans in the New York/ New Jersey area. The NFTs (nonfungible tokens), designed by Sebastion’s wife, Lana Gomez,  for each show, feature each fan’s individual ticket section, row, and seat.

“I have never done this before and hell — who knows — I may never do it again!” Maniscalco said in announcing the NFT freebies on social media.

When questioned, most of his fans admitted they had no idea what an “NFT’ was.  Asked about receiving a free NFT, which is a historic first for a comic to give to his audience, one Maniscalco fan replied. “I think I’d rather a beer or a slice to be honest. But it’s nice. Guy’s got a big heart.”

STAND-UP COMICS PERFORM IN UKRAINAN BOMB SHELTER

Three Stand-up comics performed for about a hundred citizens in an underground bomb shelter in the Sumy, a regional capital in northern Ukraine, on March 19, according to local media outlet Cukr.  The three comics faced a grim crowd but put on a lauded show according to several that were reported to be there. There’s not much to joke about right now in that part of the world but these three somehow managed to make the crowd laugh pretty hard for over an hour and a half. In a country governed by a former comic, I’m sure that alone is a set-up for many jokes.

The news of the show was picked up by top Indian comic Vir Das, who tweeted about the valiant comedians, as did many of the commenters on Reddit.

PETE DAVIDSON’S NOT GOING INTO SPACE

It turns out Pete Davidson’s not going into space after all. After announcing Pete was going up with the crew of the Blue Origin Rocket which was launching this month it now appears it doesn’t fit into Pete’s schedule. After the launch was postponed it got in the way of Pete’s Saturday Night Live schedule. (Or something?)  Another theory is that Pete Googled how high ‘space’ is.

Blue Origin says they will be announcing their ‘sixth crew member’ very soon. (Paging Gary Busey…)

*NOTE; In the end, Pete’s seat was given to the architect of the spaceship. Gary Lai.
